Gisborne Pony Club endeavours to teach its members good horsemanship skills and good sportsmanship in a friendly
and safe environment.  Programs are designed to follow the Pony Club Australia syllabus and are for all ages and riding abilities including competitive riders and junior riders on lead. We welcome riders and families from in and around the Macedon Ranges and invite you to come for a ride and try day. See below for additional information.

Pony Club Victoria is divided into 10 zones with Gisborne Pony Club being part of the CENTRAL ZONE.

GPC Rallies are held on the first Sunday of every month with winter and summer time allocations to suit the seasonal weather.
Learn more about our Rallies further below.

GPC offers a 'Ride & Try Day' (single time) to help you get a feel for our club and grounds before committing to membership. This requires provision of your own horse and equipment, online registration and payment (includes insurance)  before attending. All enquiries welcome to our Club Secretary.

An insight to rallies.

Each month the District Commissioner (DC) will group riders and set a program for the day. This typically comprises 4 lessons of different disciplines under instruction with breaks in between. Uniform Shop is open during the lunch period and we also conduct updates and announcements in this time.Canteen is also available on rally days.

Lessons and special programs vary each rally and can include showjumping, dressage, cross country, camp drafting, obstacles, theory, games and more! These are great ways to gain experience and enjoy learning with other riders!

COMPETENCY CERTIFICATES
Pony club instruction follows the Pony Club Australia (PCA) syllabus. There are 9 certificates that can be achieved being E, D, D*, C, C*, K, B, H and A, and are all proficiency certificates recognising progress in ability and sportsmanship. They are gained in order starting from E through to A and the DC and Secretary will direct you as required.

All riders are assessed for the E, D, D* competency certificates within the club. C certificate level and upwards are assessed at zone and state level. Riders are strongly encouraged to achieve C certificate as it is a requirement for entry to Pony Club Victoria (PCV) state championships if the rider is 14yo and in pony club for 2 years or more. Riders are given positive encouragement and support to work through these achievements. The higher level certificates are recognised and respected overseas and give a rider considerable kudos.

These are optional and separate to our rallies however require member assistance being are our major club fundraisers! A great way to learn about events and contribute to the club's success.
Please see the Events & Rallies page for information and dates.

TIP: If you enter Pony Club events as a Pony Club Rider (representing your club), it is important you have attended at least 2 rallies with the same horse (horse/rider combination). You may need to be graded for some events. Grading is directed by the club DC and is based on one horse and rider combination at a time. If you change horse, you will require grading again. Always ask questions before attending an event and we will help you!
